The
family of CHI Centers
Volunteers are a significant component of our agency. CHI Centers
was founded in 1948 by parents and volunteers and is served by a volunteer
Board of Directors. There are 200 community volunteers who work with
300 staff and adults with developmental disabilities. The contributions
of our volunteers are invaluable in expanding and strengthening our
scope of services. Volunteers invariably bring new and creative ideas,
special skills and a genuine concern for the participants in our programs.
How
can I volunteer? CHI
Centers can provide a variety of volunteer placements for individuals,
small or large groups. CHI Centers has many types of office volunteer
functions, working with adults with disabilities, and working in
a CHI Centers day or residential facility. Volunteer placements
are geared for the individual or the group, from a one-time volunteer
activity to multiple times per week. CHI Centers will craft the
placement to take into consideration your time constraints, interest
and experience.

a member of the United Way campaign, agency #8059. Individuals make
contributions to CHI Centers as well as community services groups.
Donations are always welcome. Computers, fax machines, office supplies,
and vehicles can be put to good use throughout the agency. Residential
programs always welcome new and used household furnishings, answering
machines, TVs, VCRs, CD players, vacuum cleaners, coats, and household
